Welcome to 2025!
Welcome back from your Christmas break.
During December, we spent a great deal of time preparing for our Christmas concert. This involved weeks of musical practice with the teachers and sessions with Mr Pardy. We sang, use musical instruments, learnt about timings and when to stop and start. We prepared crafts which we hand-made using as many natural resources as possible.
The children also practiced their sewing skills, using their fine finger movements and concentration to create the lovely felt trees. We also made clay bowls out of leaves and our handmade Christmas cards!
School Maintenance
In the weeks leading up to Christmas we had a bit of maintenance done at the nursery. We fixed the guttering (although the children were really disappointed as they used to love the showers under the leaky guttering!). We also trimmed back the Oak tree and some of the trees over the baby garden. Our decorator re-painted the children and staff toilets to give it a fresh new look. We next hope to change some of the blinds and with the money raised over the Christmas concert the staff will be looking at purchasing new resources for the children in each room.
Christmas Concert
Our outdoor Christmas concert was a success!. The children were very excited and it was lovely to see many parents and grandparents attend. The children performed their well rehearsed concert - which was excellent! We had lots of goodies to eat and hot drinks plus we enjoyed toasting marshmallows in the fire. We hope to organise a few more of these activities for parents over the coming year.
What's happening this term...
Over the next couple of months we will be discovering more about what happens in the colder temperatures. We will be discussing polar animals, Antarctica, looking at people that live in colder environments. Experimenting with ice, snow and water. Keeping warm, what we wear versus what animals need to keep warm.
We will also have the opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year with Mrs Shah and Mrs Cheng. They will be introducing the children to some traditional clothing, songs and recipes. We may get the opportunity to have Mrs Shah's daughters perform a traditional dance for us!
